Hi all,
We are in the process of getting our yards leveled.
we had lots of steep grades and most of our 10 acres was
completely useless as far as a garden goes.
Here's the problem, after digging down to level, most of
what we have is decomposed granite.
Would anyone have a solution to this problem?
would you have topsoil brought in?
the only problem is, I'd need about a foot of topsoil for decent vegetable
wouldn't I? Thanks for your input

I feel your pain.
My Jack Hammer rig feels your pain.
As you no doubt know by now Decompose Granite come in a variety of
hardness's.
Bottom line in gardening around DG is your ability to drain.
You're going to have to build up planting beds and devise a drainage exit
scheme.
The height of your raised beds will be determined on what you plan to grow.
The design of your drainage systems will be determined by your topography
and what you plan to grow in your raised beds.
A foot of top soil for vegetable beds is rather slim.
Check out different websites that provide you with information on rooting
depths of tomatoes, beans, squash etc... and you'll see that many veggies
root down two feet plus some.
Crack your wallet a little wider if you want to bring in enough soil depth for
your veg garden.
