My Jack Hammer rig feels your pain.
As you no doubt know by now Decompose Granite come in a variety of
hardness's.
Bottom line in gardening around DG is your ability to drain.
You're going to have to build up planting beds and devise a drainage exit
scheme.

Beefsteak is not a hybrid.
American seed is known for low cost seeds but they have been around for a while and their seeds seem fine to me
